Dubai has one of the highest per capita incomes. Although Dubai owes its initial wealth to the discovery of oil in the 1960s and this was the major contributor to the GDP, today oil only contributes 10% of the total GDP. 90% of the GDP is from the non oil sector. Over 4.7 million tourists visited Dubai in 2002, and this number is expected to grow to 15 million by 2010.
